Assistent Purchasing Agent

About this job.

Aquadistri

Are you commercially minded, detail-oriented, and do you already have some experience in purchasing or inventory management? Would you like to further develop your skills in an international trading environment? Then we are looking for you!

As an Assistant Purchasing Agent at AquaDistri, you will share responsibility for ensuring that the daily purchasing process runs smoothly and that our product range is optimally available. You will maintain contact with national and international suppliers, place and monitor purchase orders, and keep track of delivery times, prices, and stock levels.

You will work closely with the Senior Buyer and your colleagues in sales, administration, and the warehouse. You will be given the responsibility to handle tasks independently, as well as the opportunity to further develop your commercial and analytical skills.

What Will You Do?

  • Manage purchase orders: Place, check, and monitor purchase orders, ensuring they are processed correctly in our ERP system.
  • Monitor delivery times: Actively follow up on outstanding orders, identify delays, and take timely action.
  • Coordinate with colleagues: Work closely with colleagues in sales, administration, and the warehouse.
  • Improve processes: Actively contribute ideas for improving purchasing processes, inventory management, and collaboration with suppliers.
  • Check order confirmations: Verify that quantities, prices, delivery times, and delivery terms on order confirmations match the original purchase orders.
  • Check invoices: Match incoming purchase invoices with the original purchase order and the actual goods receipt confirmation.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Education and experience: You have at least an MBO level 4 qualification or equivalent working and thinking level, preferably in a commercial, business, or logistics-related field. You have 1–3 years of relevant work experience in purchasing, inventory management, supply chain, or a similar role.
  • Purchasing experience: You are familiar with processing and following up on purchase orders, communicating with suppliers, and monitoring delivery times.
  • Accuracy and analytical skills: You work in a structured manner, have an eye for detail, and can interpret data and figures effectively.
  • Communication skills: You communicate clearly and professionally with suppliers and colleagues and ensure that agreements are properly documented.
  • IT skills: You have experience with MS Office, particularly Excel. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Exact, or AFAS is an advantage.
  • Languages: You have a good command of Dutch, both spoken and written. Good English skills are essential due to international contact with suppliers and colleagues.

Naturally, we do not expect you to already be familiar with our products, suppliers, or systems. If you have relevant experience and are willing to continue developing yourself, we will provide support, coaching, or external training where necessary.

Your Personal Qualities

  • Proactive: You identify when orders or delivery times require attention and take action independently.
  • Solution-oriented: You focus on possibilities and look for practical solutions to delivery problems or discrepancies.
  • Able to work under pressure: You maintain an overview and set the right priorities, even when several orders or suppliers require attention at the same time.
  • Eager to learn: You want to expand your knowledge of products, suppliers, and purchasing processes and are open to taking on new responsibilities.
